My Butterfly Effect

My Butterfly Effect Chapter 3

This is very very overdue but bear with me. Here is my week 3 recap.

1. Get my tyre fixed

Done and done. This took up most of my Monday last week because they had to order a new tyre so I had to go home and then go back again. I also had to take my sister to class and pick her up so I didn’t get the chance to breathe until after everything was finished.

2. Finish one task before starting a new one

I’m starting to get better at this one step at a time. It’s difficult sometimes to stay focussed and not jump around, but I really want to implement this habit into all parts of my life. Everything from assignments to chores to books to TV shows. Every tiny thing benefits from my full attention and making sure I finish it properly before moving on to the next thing.

3. Take care of the dogs after their surgery

This took up quite a lot of time and effort. I’m a bit of a helicopter mom so I hovered over them for quite a while. They had a few tummy issues at the beginning of their recovery and we didn’t want to leave them alone for too long so I didn’t leave home unless my sister was there to watch them.

We had a bit of a scare when I noticed some of Lilo’s stitches had come out and I was a bit anxious about her licking her wound too often. After that, I kept an eye on her at all times and we tried everything to keep her calm and distracted so she would leave her remaining stitches alone.

Stitch, on the other hand, was as good as new. He was back to himself almost immediately and all his stitches were in place.

4. Make vet appointment for next Sunday

I made the appointment but we ended up going on Saturday instead. Lilo’s wound was looking a bit iffy so I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. I messaged the vet on Saturday morning and he said we could drop by at any time, so we got ready and took them immediately.

He inspected their wounds and said they were headling fine and we should just keep Lilo from licking hers as much as possible. He gave us cones for them after their surgery originally but they were too stressed out so we took them off. Lilo did better with a doggy jersey on instead, so he said we should keep it on if it’s been working so far.

5. Organise my workspace and keep it tidy

This didn’t end up happening. I had soo much work and everything just ended up all over the place again. We’re moving in a few weeks so it’s not the end of the world. I’m actually looking forward to packing and going through everything. It’s the best time to purge a bit and donate things that we never use anymore.

6. Organise my bedside table

This is a bit more organised but same as above for the most part.

7. Decide when to start my 30 Day Miracle Morning Challenge

I’ve decided to attempt to start it in August. most of August will be either exams or holidays, both ideal times to work on the challenge. As long as I don’t have too many late nights, it will go well.

8. Follow my morning routine and tweak it a bit more

I actually did most parts of my routine for the majority of the week, but I know I can do much better and wake up earlier providing I stick to a set bedtime.

9. Drink more water throughout the day

This is actually a life saver. I’ve been filling up my water bottle much more frequently and the extra hydration has been wonderful. It’s always good to remind myself to drink water throughout the day, especially during the summer in Dubai.

10. Plan for Saturday’s gathering

This could have gone better, but thanks to my assignments I didn’t do everything as well as I would have liked. We had a great time though and it was a great break from all the work.

We all lose track of time occasionally. My Sunday was so unbelievably busy and a lot was going on so I needed a bit of a break to pull myself together.

Here are my goals for week 4 in hindsight that I will return to in a couple of days for the next update.

  1. Take some time away from social media
  2. Detox my online environments
  3. Spend time with my mom
  4. Finish my last assignment
  5. Be there for people
  6. No delivery food
  7. Buy groceries
  8. Make a meal plan
  9. Finalise plans for next week
  10. Set up a study schedule

I hope you’re all doing well. Chat again soon!
